The price difference is an attempt to encourage passengers to use
regional airports instead of relying on busy Heathrow, Gatwick and
Stansted.

But it is absolutely outrageous to try an introduce different pricing in different areas
of the country.'
Wait a minute! This has been going on for years with tour operators
airport/flight supplements.. Nil surcharge from London and home county
airports but hefty premiums being charged from Northern airports.

And despite the huge premiums ex GLA, Thomson say its one of there
most successful bases. Jamaica, Cape verde, Florida, Dominican
Republic, Barbados....cant be too off putting. Have demand will
travel.....

It sounds good to me as I fly from northern airports to a continental
hub and onwards from there.

Sane people avoid Heathrow...

Regular non-charter airlines are not guilty of imposing northern
airports flight supplements.. Charter airlines are.

Of course they do but charter airline passengers have to pay over the
odds to fly locally. It wouldn't be so bad if Northern airport
supplements were based on economics.. All to often it's apparent that
they are based more on what charter airlines can get away with.

So no different to the rest of their operations then.

Yes the popularity and demand, particularly in the West, means they
will chance their arm and seem to get away with it. Over 8 flights per
week long haul widebody flights ex GLA to Florida and the Caribbean
seem testimony to that..... Boeing 787 coming to a West coast airport
near you soon....what a boon
